We know that this trauma can be triggered during the birthing process and we are committed to providing care that considers your past and present experiences. Childcare Program for Mamas
The Maternal Health Equity Collaborative is excited to offer free, short-term, culturally congruent, high quality in-home childcare, for Black Mamas in Central Texas during the perinatal period. The purpose of this program is to address barriers, such as childcare, that block access to receiving the medical and mental necessary for having a successful and safe pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experience.
To Be Eligible: Identify as a BIPOC birthing person and be actively receiving birth support from one of the MHEC birth organizations.
Types of Childcare Support Available
Respite: Open to black families
In-home childcare for children whose parents is placed on bedrest, immediate postpartum, or has limited, or no childcare support during the perinatal period.
Appointment based care
In-home childcare up to 3 hours for children whose parent is attending a medical or doula related appointment, such as prenatal, baby well-visit, postpartum follow-up, or doula visit.
On-call, Emergency childcare: Open to all BIPOC
Childcare provided in home or at the birthing location of the family. Services are available in combination with a Doula from on of the MHEC organizations including Mama Sana Vibrant Woman, Black Mamas ATX and Gals.
