Our summer childbirth preparation workshop will be offered in English and Spanish to our participants and pregnant individuals from our community.  This will be an opportunity for them to learn about the various stages of labor, different labor positions,  recovering postpartum, and more! Childcare and lunch will be provided for this full day event. Attendees should dress comfortably and bring a water bottle. 

(9:45 am - 10:15 am) - Participants arrive

(10:15 am - 11:00 am) Introductions

(11:00 am - 12:15 pm) - Stages of labor

(12:15 pm - 12:45 pm) - Lunch time

(12:45 pm - 1:45 pm) - Labor positions/Spinning babies

(1:45 pm - 1:50 pm) - Break

(1:50 pm - 2:50 pm) - Pain relief options in/out of hospital

(2:50 pm - 3:15 pm) - Labor signs, normal vs. not normal

(3:15 pm - 3:45 pm) - Birth Plans

(3:45 pm - 4:00 pm) - Questions and Close out

Meet your Facilitator

Dominique Adeniyi is passionate about Black Maternal Health and improving birth outcomes for underserved folks in her community. She has many roles, serving as a Student midwife, Full Spectrum doula, Birth Photographer, and Program Administrator for a local nonprofit organization. However, most importantly she is a dedicated member of the birth worker community. As a mother who experienced her own birth traumas, Dominique has found healing by actively uplifting and empowering Black birthing folks. Her mission is to create a safe space for expectant parents to receive empowerment, support, education and nurturing care.
